Ingredients

  • Rice - 1 cup
  • Water - 4 cups
  • Salt - 0.25 tsp

Directions

  • Step 1

    (Optional) Rinse 1 cup of white rice until water runs clear, then soak in cold water for 30 minutes.

  • Step 2

    Drain and rinse the rice.

  • Step 3

    In a blender, combine rice with 4 cups of fresh water and a pinch of salt.

  • Step 4

    Blend on high for 1 minute until fully broken down.

  • Step 5

    Strain through a fine-mesh sieve or nut-milk bag into a jug.

  • Step 6

    Refrigerate and serve chilled; shake before using. Use within 3–4 days.

Cook's Notes

If you like a sweeter milk, blend in 1 tbsp of maple syrup or sugar in step 3.
