This sourdough bread uses a natural starter to develop deep flavor and a crisp crust. It’s perfect for sandwiches, toast, or alongside soups.

Ingredients
- Water - 350 ml
- Bread Flour - 500 g
- Salt - 10 g
- Sourdough Starter - 100 g
Directions
Step 1
In a large bowl, mix the sourdough starter, lukewarm water, and flour; stir until no dry bits remain.
Step 2
Cover and let rest (autolyse) for 30 minutes.
Step 3
Add salt and gently knead the dough until smooth, about 5–7 minutes.
Step 4
Perform bulk fermentation: cover and let rise at room temperature for 4 hours, folding the dough every 30 minutes.
Step 5
Shape the dough into a round loaf and place it seam-side up in a floured proofing basket. Cover and proof for 2 hours.
Step 6
Preheat the oven to 230°C (450°F) with a Dutch oven inside. Carefully transfer the loaf into the hot vessel, score the top, cover, and bake for 20 minutes.
Step 7
Remove the lid and bake for an additional 25 minutes until golden brown.
Step 8
Let cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.

For best results, use high-protein bread flour and ensure your starter is at peak activity before mixing.
