This homemade date syrup is crafted by slowly cooking pitted dates in water, then straining the mixture to achieve a smooth, amber-colored sweetener ideal for drizzling.

Ingredients
- Water - 1 liters
- Dates - 500 g
Directions
Step 1
Place 500 g pitted dates and 1 L water in a medium saucepan.
Step 2
Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat.
Step 3
Reduce heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the dates break down and the mixture thickens (about 60 minutes).
Step 4
Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
Step 5
Blend or mash until smooth, then strain through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth.
Step 6
Transfer to sterilized jars and refrigerate.
